What to do after an automobile accident...
The most important thing to do is to make sure everyone is okay. Life and
health are more important than vehicle damage.
Inspect your car and make note of damages to all the vehicles involved. Exchange information with other drivers. Write down names, addresses, and license numbers of everyone involved including witnesses. For a great reference use our Glove Box Accident Reporting Form to gather all of the information you will need when involved in an accident.
If the damage is over $1000 you must call the police. (As a rule of thumb if you are not sure of the amount, call the police). Make notes about special circumstances such as the visibility, the road condition, or the weather. Go to the police reporting center located at 1001 Brydges St. in London if a motor vehicle accident occurred within city limits.
Notify your agent or broker or Middlesex Mutual Insurance Co.
What to do after a loss at your home...
Knowing what to do after an injury or property loss occurs can make the
experience less stressful and decrease the chance of unnecessary complications.
After a property loss you should:
After an injury...
Don't voluntarily make payments, assume obligations or incur expenses, except for emergency first aid at the time of the bodily injury. Help us to help you. The more information you can give us about a loss, the more we can do to handle your claim quickly and efficiently.
Begin gathering information and keep in mind that you are the best person to tell us what happened. Be prepared to provide as many details as possible about stolen items or any damage and circumstances surrounding a fire. This information can be critical in settling a claim.
Your Property policy will cover your possessions, but did you
know...
That items such as jewellery, numismatic property, collections, silverware, monies, securities, watercraft, antiques and bicycles as well as other items are limited as to values. Some of these items may be increased by insuring them separately.
Due to inflation, a review of your building coverages is recommended to ensure that you are adequately protected. Any auxiliary heating systems in the dwelling, e.g woodburning stoves, must be noted on your policy. Coverage could be affected if the company is not notified.
Your policy may limit or exclude claims arising from any type of business operated from your residence. You should notify your broker or agent of any changes in your policy. Antiques are insured on an actual cash value basis and not on a replacement cost basis.
