What to do after an automobile accident...

The most important thing to do is to make sure everyone is okay. Life and health are more important than vehicle damage.

Inspect your car and make note of damages to all the vehicles involved. Exchange information with other drivers. Write down names, addresses, and license numbers of everyone involved including witnesses. For a great reference use our Glove Box Accident Reporting Form to gather all of the information you will need when involved in an accident.

If the damage is over $1000 you must call the police. (As a rule of thumb if you are not sure of the amount, call the police). Make notes about special circumstances such as the visibility, the road condition, or the weather. Go to the police reporting centre located at 1001 Brydges St. in London if a motor vehicle accident occurred within London city limits.

All injuries must be reported within seven days from the date of the accident.

Keep all receipts related to any emergency expenses; ambulance, parking, prescription medication, etc.., so you can submit them for reimbursement if you are deemed eligible to do so.

Notify your agent or broker or call Jacqueline Bowyer at our Middlesex Mutual office in Ilderton at 519-666-0075.

What to do after a loss at your home...

After a property loss you should:

    • Promptly report the loss to your agent or broker, or to our Claims Manager Brett Borden in Ilderton at our Middlesex Mutual office @ 519-666-0075
    • Protect the property from further damage or loss
    • Retrieve your home inventory list and any sales receipts or photos from their safe-storage location off premises
    • Make reasonable temporary repairs to protect the property
    • Keep an accurate record of repair costs
    • If the loss is caused by theft, notify the police
    • If the loss involves a credit card or bank fund transfer card, notify the credit card company or bank immediately

Your Property policy will cover your possessions, but did you know...

That items such as jewellery, numismatic property, collections, silverware, monies, securities, watercraft, antiques and bicycles as well as other items are limited as to values. Some of these items may be increased by insuring them separately.
Due to inflation, a review of your building coverages is recommended to ensure that you are adequately protected. Any auxiliary heating systems in the dwelling, e.g woodburning stoves, must be noted on your policy. Coverage could be affected if the company is not notified.

  • Your policy may limit or exclude claims arising from any type of business operated from your residence. You should notify your broker or agent of any changes in your policy. Antiques are insured on an actual cash value basis and not on a replacement cost basis.
